La Pinte
Built in a former bowling alley in the village of Ayer’s Cliff in the Eastern Townships, the artisanal dairy La Pinte sources milk from local Jersey cow farms in the Coaticook Valley and the municipality of Racine. These farms are located less than 20 km from the dairy, which helps minimize transportation time and, in turn, the ecological footprint of their products.
Smaller in size, Jersey cows produce milk that is very rich in fat and protein. The result: a nutritious milk that is creamier and more flavorful!
The dairy favors glass bottling for its various products. Glass is a natural material that can be recycled infinitely without losing its properties and contains no chemicals that could affect the environment, taste, or freshness.
To reduce the environmental impact of human consumption, their glass bottles are returnable so the dairy can reuse them as many times as possible. The caps are also recyclable.
Nutrinor
Dairy products are produced exclusively in Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean using the region’s resources. Even the cows are primarily fed with locally grown products!
Nutrinor is a cooperative. Local dairy farms that are members deliver their production to the Alma dairy.
Sustainable agriculture is at the heart of their operations. Over a hundred farms have joined the Nutrinor Sustainable Agriculture Pact, a joint commitment to improve the ecological footprint of farm practices in their region, focusing on three areas: land, people, and animals. Transitioning to carbon-neutral packaging is just one of many concrete actions reflecting this commitment.

Ferme Vallée Verte 1912
Located in Saint-Jean-de-Matha, Lanaudière, this company is run by two brothers. Since 2013, they have been transforming milk from their herd of Holstein cows into a variety of fresh dairy products.
Their milk is free from antibiotics, hormones, and pesticides thanks to their sustainable, GMO-free farming practices. Additionally, no artificial colors, preservatives, or flavors are added.
Their dairy products stand out due to the use of low-temperature pasteurized, non-homogenized milk and high-quality ingredients.
Interesting Fact: A small layer of cream forms on top of the bottled milk. Simply shake vigorously to enjoy a fresh, natural milk product!
Laiterie Chagnon
Established in Waterloo in the Eastern Townships, this dairy, founded over 60 years ago, is one of the last independent dairies in Quebec. The company produces a variety of dairy products: milk, butter, yogurts, and more. The milk used primarily comes from farms located within a 30 km radius.
Purchased in 2017 by new Quebec owners, including the Kaiser family—who have owned a dairy in Montérégie for over 45 years—the company continues to offer consumers a wide range of products while ensuring freshness, quality, and authenticity, a commitment that dates back to the company’s founding.
Maison Riviera – Laiterie Chalifoux
The first activities of Laiterie Chalifoux date back to 1920. Known under the brand Maison Riviera, the Sorel-Tracy company continues to stand out in its industry.
Maison Riviera offers a wide range of products: organic, lactose-free, vegan, goat’s milk or cow’s milk-based, and more. Their exceptional products have earned them several awards since 2015.
For most of their products, the milk comes from nearby local farms or from Quebec Milk Producers. To create products with the best ingredients, fruits are imported from various countries such as Italy, Spain, Morocco, Turkey, and countries south of the equator for exotic fruits.
Committed to promoting sustainable and healthy agriculture, Maison Riviera partners with eco-responsible suppliers and growers.
Valens Farms
Les Fermes Valens certifies that their eggs come entirely from free-range hens, are organic, and provide all essential nutrients and proteins.
The organic hens live in a free environment that allows them to move around freely in the barn, both indoors and outdoors when weather permits. They are fed certified organic grains, vitamins, and minerals, in an environment free from pesticides and GMOs.
Interesting Facts
The company is recognized as a classification station in Quebec. It operates its own sorting center in Huntingdon, Montérégie, to calibrate and package eggs. In addition to having full control over the handling of the eggs they bring to market, Les Fermes Valens guarantees high-quality eggs that provide all essential proteins and nutrients.
Did You Know…
Organic eggs provide better fatty acids than conventional eggs and are richer in omega-3s.
The color of an egg is determined by the breed of the hen. As for the yolk, its color will vary depending on the hen’s diet. In both cases, these characteristics have no impact on the egg’s nutritional value.
