Buying local helps stimulate job creation and ensures the sustainability of family farms that are committed to producing fresh, nearby food. Moreover, not only do we support a Quebec company, but we also empower local farms.
By supporting local farmers, we help promote the use of land for agricultural activities and the preservation of green spaces across the province. Additionally, because the distance between the farmer and the consumer is shorter, the amount of fuel consumed and greenhouse gas emissions are significantly reduced.
Supporting local farms in Quebec is beneficial both for the economy and for the environment!
Governed by strict standards, farms that follow organic practices must comply with specific rules covering everything from the ingredients used to preparation, handling, packaging, site sanitation, product transportation, and more.
This type of agriculture benefits biodiversity and helps fight climate change by limiting pollutant emissions and storing more CO₂ in the soil. Additionally, because it does not use chemical pesticides or fertilizers, organic farming protects soils and waterways.
For these reasons and more, organic fruits and vegetables are generally considered more natural, more nutritious, and overall better for health and the environment.

In 1995, in Sainte-Sophie in the Lower Laurentians, founder Stéphane Roy produced his first conventionally grown greenhouse tomatoes.
Since then, Savoura has invested several million dollars directly into the local economy to develop production and expertise, as well as to innovate responsible practices and initiatives.
Social inclusion is also an important focus for Savoura. This employer values the potential of individuals who wish to enter the workforce, regardless of their differences. More than 350 people work year-round in the production and marketing of high-quality products that can be delivered to stores less than 36 hours after leaving the greenhouse.
Environmental health is an integral part of their mission, which is why the company continually evolves in this direction.
Beyond using forest biomass heating in some of their greenhouses and new water recirculation technologies that allow 100% reuse of water to reduce natural resource consumption, other concrete actions demonstrate their commitment to doing even more:
Not only are their investments beneficial for Quebec municipalities, the environment, and job creation, but they also allow the company to stand out and maintain its status as a North American leader in its industry.
Today, Savoura and Savoura Bio cultivate fruits and vegetables on more than 40 hectares across 12 production sites in 8 regions of Quebec.

A Quebec family business specializing in greenhouse-grown vegetables, it stands out as one of the largest producers of leafy vegetables in greenhouses in northeastern North America, in addition to producing over 60% of Quebec’s vegetable seedlings.
The company operates four greenhouse complexes in Quebec: Mirabel, Sainte-Clotilde, Portneuf, and Ham-Nord. It specializes in hydroponic greenhouse cultivation of lettuce, as well as organic cucumbers and red peppers.
Their method involves growing crops in soilless trays, which helps reduce soil depletion and the consumption of natural resources.
In addition, hydroponic greenhouse cultivation uses 90% less water than field cultivation. Only the water lost through evapotranspiration is replaced. The new water, filtered and treated with ultraviolet light, comes from artesian wells, and rainwater is collected to irrigate the plants.
Since the 1980s, their Mirabel greenhouse has been producing lettuce using the hydroponic. cultivation method. Refined by their team, this method allows for a nutritious product that grows 100% in water.
Mindful of the environment and potential light pollution from lamps used to provide illumination in darker periods, black screens are installed as needed. This practice helps reduce the amount of energy required to heat the greenhouses. Additionally, by using forest biomass and electricity as heat sources, Gen V reports saving an average of 154,579 tonnes of greenhouse gases (tCO₂e) annually.
To maintain freshness and nutrient retention, vegetables are hand-harvested at full maturity and packed in recyclable or compostable containers the day before delivery!

Wanting to offer a locally grown, 100% Quebec organic product, Croc Bio was born in 2017 from a partnership between two producer families: Fermes Belvache and Ferme Denis Le Guerrier Fils et Fille.
Their products are grown in open fields in Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines in the Laurentians on land designated as organic since 1995.
Their compostable tray packaging improves product preservation, while the smaller portion sizes help reduce food waste.

Founded in 1999, Symbiosis is a group of six vegetable producers across the province who chose to combine their efforts and adopt a collective marketing approach for agricultural products.
This approach allows them to promote the shared values of the group members: ease of supply, quality control and product uniformity, standardization of marketing costs, and more. This model benefits not only the producers but also the consumers, who can access a diverse range of locally grown organic products at fair and affordable prices.
For over 20 years, each producer has focused on cultivating certified organic vegetables suited to their regional climate and soil type. Fruits and vegetables are grown either in greenhouses or in open fields.
The group cultivates and markets more than 30 different fruits and vegetables.
